Every year, lakhs of students face this classic Engineering admission related dilemma:
➡️ Should I go for a Computer Science or IT branch in a low tier college?
OR
➡️ Choose a less preferred branch (like civil, mechanical) in a top-rated engineering college in Maharashtra?

This decision can feel overwhelming. It’s similar to asking:
Should I take a top position in a small company or a small role in a top MNC?

College vs Branch – What’s More Important?

Top college, less popular branch (e.g. Mechanical, Instrumentation at COEP):
  • ✅ Strong placement, exposure, alumni network
  • ❌ May not align with trending career options

Top branch, lesser-known college (e.g. CSE/IT in Tier 2 or 3 college):
  • ✅ Trending branch, coding, job-ready skills
  • ❌ May lack placement support or facilities
